Privacy Policy

Curio is made by Neural Forge Technologies LLP. Last updated 3 November 2026. This page says what Curio collects, why, who helps us run it, and how you delete it.

What we collect

  • Your account. Curio starts with an anonymous account, so you can listen without signing in. If you sign in with Google, Apple, email or your phone number, we also keep the sign-in id and your email address or phone number, and the name that Google or Apple shares if you allow it.
  • Profiles. For each listener: a nickname, an avatar, an age group (for example 8 to 11 or Adults) and the languages they chose. We do not ask for birth dates, photos or contact details, and nicknames that look like contact details are refused.
  • Listening history. Which podcasts each profile played, where it stopped, and whether it finished.
  • Ratings. The 1 to 5 score you give a podcast, how long you listened, and which podcast it was for. We use ratings to decide which podcasts and styles to keep.
  • Topics and podcasts. The topics you type or say, the library searches you make, and the podcasts made for you.
  • Microphone. Only while you hold the microphone button to say a topic. The recording is sent to be turned into text and is not kept by us.
  • Purchases. The store tells us whether you have an active Plus or Pro subscription and which extra minutes you bought, and we keep your minutes balance. We never see your card or payment details.
  • Your IP address. Our servers see the IP address of your device when it connects. We use it for security and for daily limits that stop abuse (a counter per address), and to work out roughly which country you are in for features that are not offered everywhere. We do not use it to build a profile of you.

Curio does not use your contacts, photos, files, location, health data or advertising identifier. The app does not show ads. We do not sell your data.

Your own voice (optional)

Where it is offered, a Plus or Pro account holder who is an adult can record about 30 seconds of their own voice and one sentence saying the voice is theirs, so podcasts can be read in it. A voice model made from a recording can identify a person, so we ask for your clear consent first and treat it with extra care.

  • The recordings are sent to Google to create a synthetic voice model. We hold them in memory only while the request runs. They are never written to a disk, a database or a log.
  • We keep a reference to the voice model (not the recording), the dates it was made and last used, and the date you agreed.
  • The voice is used only to read podcasts to you. It is never used by us to train models, never shared with another account, and podcasts read in it are private to your account.
  • You can delete it at any time in Settings. We also delete it 90 days after your plan ends, and Google deletes a voice model after a year without use.

Who helps us run Curio

These companies process data for us, only to provide Curio:

  • Google (Gemini and Google Cloud) writes and narrates podcasts, turns speech into text, and hosts our servers and storage.
  • Firebase (Google) handles sign-in.
  • OpenRouter gives us access to the language model that writes the podcast scripts. It receives the topic and the podcast text.
  • Apple and Google Play take the payments for Plus and Pro. We receive the result of a purchase, not your payment details.

We may share information if the law requires it.

Children

A grown-up creates the account and the profiles, and children do not need an account of their own. For a listener we keep no more than a nickname, an avatar, an age group, their languages and what they listened to. A grown-up can delete a profile at any time, and its history goes with it. Settings, plans and profile changes are protected by a grown-up PIN unless the profile is set to Adults.

How long we keep it

Account, profiles and history stay until you delete them. Daily limit counters are short-lived. Podcasts that were made for a topic may be kept so the same topic can be served again quickly to anyone who asks for it. They carry no information about who asked.

Delete your data

In the app, open Settings and choose Delete account. This removes your account, profiles, listening history, ratings, plan link and the podcasts made for you, and it cannot be undone. To remove one listener, delete that profile. To remove only your voice, use Settings, Your voice, Delete my voice. You can also email us and we will delete it within 30 days. How to delete your account.

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in your store account settings too.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it or delete it. Write to us at the address below and we will answer within 30 days. If you think we handled your data wrongly, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy we will post the new date here, and tell you in the app if the change matters.
